About

Hyde Race at the rodeo is always a thrilling event to watch! This race is a unique and exciting competition where riders must demonstrate their speed, agility, and horsemanship. Participants race around barrels or obstacles, picking up their teammate who must just on the hyde being pulled and ride it to the finish line. Aiming for the fastest time. The race requires not only a fast horse but also precise control and coordination between the riders and the horse. Be sure to either have your own horse or find one to use before the rodeo.

Ranch Hand Saddle Bronc is a rodeo event that combines the rugged skills of ranch work with the thrill of bronc riding. In this event, riders use a working saddle, just like the ones used on the ranch, to ride a bucking horse for eight seconds. Unlike traditional saddle bronc riding, the ranch hand version emphasizes the practical skills used in everyday ranching, adding an authentic touch to the competition.

Barrel Racing is one of the most exhilarating events in rodeo. It showcases the incredible partnership between a rider and their horse as they navigate a cloverleaf pattern around three barrels in the fastest time possible. Precision and speed are crucial, as knocking over a barrel results in a time penalty. Barrel racing is a true test of agility, speed, and teamwork.

Breakaway Roping is an exciting and fast-paced event in the world of rodeo. It's a timed competition where a cowgirl on horseback chases a calf and ropes it as quickly as possible. The goal is to throw a loop around the calf's neck and then let the rope "breakaway" from the saddle horn, which stops the clock. This event is all about speed and precision. It's a true display of the talent and athleticism of both the rider and the horse. Together, these events capture the essence of rodeo—a celebration of skill, bravery, and the enduring spirit of the American West. The Iron County Rodeo remains a cherished tradition, drawing spectators from near and far to witness these exciting, heart-pounding performances. Register online.
